Diamond Promise Rings
Promise rings and engagement rings: what is a promise ring and how is it different? Many people mistake promise rings for engagement rings and visa versa, but there are few key differences between the rings. Symbolically, an engagement ring is given to state that the giver and the wearer intend to spend the rest of their lives together, but a promise ring can be given for many different reasons. Oftentimes, the wearer and the giver may be the only people who know exactly what the promise entails and symbolizes. While the definite parameters of the promise is individualized, a promise ring can commonly symbolize commitment and love to the outside world.

What does a Promise Ring Mean?
Although a promise ring does not always mean that the couple will get engaged, it does come before an engagement ring in a situation in which engagement follows. Typically, women tend to wear their promise ring on the opposite hand if an engagement ring comes after the promise ring.
However, promise rings do not always have to symbolize a romantic relationship. In fact, promise rings are common gifts from parents to their children or between friends. Usually, in these situations, the rings mean forever love in a familial or platonic setting.
Promise rings are also commonly used as a purity ring. In this sense, the ring symbolizes that the wearer will be abstinent until marriage. Here, this idea may mean that there are two promise rings for couples. Promise rings for men may mean the same thing as the promise rings for girlfriends, but typically, men opt for a less sparkly version of the same ring. However, men’s promise rings are up to individuality just as women’s promise rings are. Therefore, preference is the most important feature of any ring, especially a symbolic ring such as a promise ring.
But once again, the promise ring meaning is incredibly individual; a ring could mean a promise to one’s faith or to self-improvement, among other things.
Wearing a Promise Ring
Promise rings for her are typically subtler and smaller than engagement rings. Although there is no hard and fast rule that the engagement ring has to be worn on the ring finger of the left hand, there is even less of a suggestion that promise rings need to be worn on this finger. Therefore, there is a lot more freedom for the wearer to choose where the ring belongs.
How do Promise Rings Look Like?
Small diamond promise rings are usually less focused on the diamond than they are on the overall effect of the ring. Promise rings commonly feature intricate designs (sometimes without using diamonds at all!) such as infinity signs or a symbol that is important to the giver. Additionally, small promise rings may also compromise on metal. While engagement rings typically use the best and sturdiest material for the metal band, promise rings may use more affordable metal options such as a cheaper gold.
